Part of She's Arkansas Heritage Collection, Southern Arkansas University’s roots date to 1909 when it was established as the Third District Agricultural School, one of four such schools in Arkansas. Construction of the campus started in 1910 with classes commencing in 1911. The 35,000 square foot Agriculture Center is a relative newcomer to the campus, completed in 2012.
