Part of She's Arkansas Heritage Collection, the Arkansas State Hospital was founded in 1873 as the Arkansas Lunatic Asylum. First located in Pulaski County, the hospital has changed names and locations several times over the years. It is currently located in Little Rock next to the University for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and is Arkansas’ only state-owned facility dedicated to treating mental illness.
